Ahh, I must apologize, I just realized this was still in my drafts [along with a few other questions+answers] and that I hadn’t answered it yet, despite making a set. For that, I apologize.
Anyways, I hope I can help! I haven’t travelled to this area since I was a little little girl. Thus this is merely a bit of a guideline for the type of things I would consider packing.
The first thing I am going to suggest is to check the weather closer to your departure! I know it sounds silly but you would be surprised the number of people who actually don’t! I have no idea what the relative temperature will be come winter in this area, apart from what I could look-up online as season averages. But you never know, it could be accurate, or off come the winter. Also, it’s important to take the weather into account as a comparison to what you are used to at that time of year, where ever you normally reside. When I looked up the average temperature for those areas I though “Really? That is winter there? That’s early fall for me!” Because it is compared to the knee high snow, zero degree weather and serious windchill that I experience each winter! Just something to keep in mine!
So here is how I would approach packing for it, which is very close/almost exactly my typical packing process:
- Underwear: Always put it aside to pack first
- Shoes: Comfortable if you are going to we walking a lot. I love to bring sneakers, low-heeled ankle boots, ballet flats or even riding boots as comfortable footwear. Also, don’t ‘break in’ shoes on a holiday, that is one of the quickest ways to have painful feet!
- Outerwear: Consider the weather and the degree to which you consider it to be. If weather is going to be what you would consider colder, bring a heaver coat. If rain is forecasted, make sure you have something waterproof like a trench.
- Layers/Tops: I like to bring layers when I travel because I know I am always cold. I like to travel with a sweater, t-shirts, and button-downs. They travel well, are comfortable and can easily be layered for a level of comfort.
- Knit Dress: I love knit dresses, especially to travel in. They are perfect for the plane, an afternoon walking around, or even for the evening if you need to look more polished. Plus, they travel much better than woven fabrics so you are less likely to worry about wrinkles.
- Bottoms: I love my jeans, so I think it’s always great to have a comfortable pair for a trip. If jeans aren’t you thing, a great pair of trousers that are comfortable. I also like to bring a black skirt; it has the same effect as the knit dress, it can be easily worn casually or more polished. Plus, it goes with everything.
- Accessories/Essentials: I never travel without a hat and scarf, but that’s just me. Don’t forget things like a belt if you need one or your sunglasses, handbag, toiletries, book, camera.. those type of things. I also like to bring a refillable water bottle with me. I am always thirsty and hate having to always purchase water.
I hope you found this helpful! Have a lovely trip! xx.
